SCULPT ARTWORK · NOT AN ARTIST PORTRAITMaissa Said is a Toronto-based doll sculptor who traces the beginning of her practice to 2010, when she discovered miniature one-of-a-kind baby sculpture. She describes herself as self-taught and focuses on the finely observed features of very young infants.
Maissa describes developing her originals by building forms in polymer clay, adding and refining detail before preparing them for moulding. Her practice spans several scales, and the finished original sculptures can be reproduced in silicone, vinyl or resin. Her own account of the process offers unusually specific insight into how a baby sculpt emerges from clay.
Her current official kit listings include Brielle/Bobby Asleep, Annelene/Andrew Asleep and Kaillie/Kellan Asleep. Each pair appears as options under one original product design, with silicone blend, armature and other configurations documented by the studio. These are blank, unpainted kits; product photographs may also show finished examples.
Every original sculpt in one searchable collection, with current pre-orders and available kits prioritised when their status is verified.
